Light from Dark

Last night so close together
Our heads aligned
Our hearts entwined
Our souls combined

Wonderful to share those times
Openly staring
Silence blaring
Gently caring

I feel like that so many nights
Then you must go
A hammer blow
I feel so low

Sometimes caught without protection
Heart set wide
Arms at side
No place to hide

Those nights I need you most my treasure
Be soft and gentle as a petal
To help me settle
My heart to metal

Some nights I break
My heart forlorn
My soul feels torn
Head searching for the dawn

Last night we talked it through most calmly
Shared how I feel
An everlasting deal
Your love so special, caring and so real

For future nights I can relax
For I will know
When you must go
Softening that awful blow

These nights I will be safe
Your love so deep
My heart safe you keep
To help me sleep

In peaceful sleep we stay together
Heads aligned
Hearts entwined
Souls combined
